From Brown to Black: Entry Table
I found this heavy, entry table off of Craigslist for $20. It doesn't have anything that "wows" me, but I took a chance on it anyways.
(Still working on the family room. One day the trim will be complete!) |
It is solid wood and has the beautiful detail of dovetailed drawers.
I hated the knobs, so ran up to Home Depot and found a couple of glass knobs to replace them.
My original plan was to put it in the upcoming barn sale, but it's going to be hard to let go. It looks stunning with our new, family room curtains that our dear neighbor, Jane, gave to us. (She's amazing!)
Here's a quick breakdown of what I did to the table:
1. I applied one coat of Zinnser Cover Stain that was tinted in an olive green.
2. I then applied 2 coats of straight black paint.
3. Next step, I grabbed a sheet of 110 grid sandpaper & lightly sanded the edges by hand. I wanted the olive green to pop through the black.
4. Added a top coat, new knobs, & voila! A new and improved, entry table!

Oooh. I love the drawer pulls - so pretty. I would love something like this for my entryway. Of course, I would totally use the drawer to hide all my junk :)
